The wings carry membrane detail all the way to the trailing edge, the spine runs the length of the tail, and the whole figure reads as a collectible rather than a moulded shell with a bulb in it. Placed the way the photograph shows it — at the edge of the shelf, flame pointing away from the pillow and out into the room — it stops being a thing in the dark and becomes the thing keeping watch over it.
